In China, ‘The 2020 Report on Chinese Residents’ Chronic Diseases and Nutrition,’ showed that the average weight of adult men (69.9 kilograms) and women (59 kilograms) increased by 3.4 kilograms and 1.7 kilograms, respectively, over the past five years. The trend for children is alarming as 20% of children aged 6 to 17 are obese.

Healthy China 2030 (健康中国2030 ) has four principles: health as a priority, innovation, scientific development where clearly there is a stress on prevention and control as well as fairness and justice. It has also 13 cores, the fifth indicator of health level of the population will be the proportion of the people meeting the national physique standard among urban and rural residents; for healthy life there is importance in growing literacy and awareness and taking part to physical activity; and also, to measure the premature mortality due to major no-communicable diseases (obesity linked).
Four of the 13 cores are directly linked to people healthy lifestyle and obesity prevention.
